"I live in a house but my home is in the stable." -Author Unknown
Our Story... Like all little girls who love horses, I could not get enough of these amazing animals. I finally talked my parents into letting me ride through the Girl Scout program and though I was scared I kept going back time after time to ride. I volunteered to be a Wrangler in the Girl Scout program when I was in the 7th grade to help teach other girls who shared my love for the horses. Feathers (we have camp names... Mine is Tweety), the Instructor for the program was always so helpful and patient with my nervousness and to this day I respect her and everything she has taught me. Soon after I became a Wrangler our program location was moved to Wonder Valley! Here I met Taffy who has been and will continue to be a very large part in my knowledge, success, and influence to my program. I have always looked to her for the answers my struggles. My teaching continued on with the Girl Scouts for several years through which I also volunteered and worked at camp El-O-Win until I was too busy with my own students to go back in the summers. I also teach at Wonder Valley's 6th grade and Outdoor Education programs throughout the year, belong to a local riding club in Wonder Valley, and attend events as much as possible with my students! I currently run a full program and absolutely love what I do. I try to help out as many people and make an impact on as many children as possible. I have three children of my own and love being a mother. I can only hope that at least one of my children will share the extreme love and passion for horses that I do. I look forward to personally meeting each and every one of you! -Melanie
